Cake, marzipan, fondant, toothpicks, food coloring
This cake-sculpture was my investigation into the diorama as an edible object. Everything on the cake was able to be consumed, including the marzipan people and the frosting animals. As it was eaten by gallery visitors, the landscape of the cake was transformed as the internal layers of the cake were exposed. The previously idyllic lushness of the landscape was transformed into a crumbling, unruly terrain of half-demolished hills of cake and frosting.
