This series is inspired by my own experiences camping, as well as by the tradition, pioneered by groups such as the Girl Scouts, of providing a nature-based, all-female bonding experience to young women. Such trips are often the first time these girls are in the outdoors at night, experiencing both the pleasurable and frightening aspects of the woods.
