Peepshow, 2006 and 2008,
Wood, paint, monocular lenses, halogen lights, diorama, 96"x72"x72"
The installation consists of a large white box with four monocular lenses embedded in the walls. The lenses, or peepholes, are positioned a varying heights, and allow viewers to see small portions of the diorama inside the room.
The peepholes show four scenes from within the diorama, and provide glimpses of the all-female world inside. By limiting the viewer's access to the diorama, tension is produced between the self-contained world of the diorama and the outside world, and the relationships between voyeurism and sexuality, and private and public space are called into question.
